SUMMARY:Winter Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join Kevin Burke of Carolina Nature Tours on Thursday\, February 19th at 9am for a walk around FENCE to look for winter resident birds. \nWe have a number of interesting birds that spend the winters with us. Sparrows\, Raptors\, and Blackbirds are all definite possibilities. Regional specialties such as the Red-headed Woodpecker and Brown-headed Nuthatch have also been spotted regularly on the property. Some birds we hope to see are White-throated Sparrow\, Eastern Meadowlark\, Red-shouldered Hawk\, Brown Thrasher\, and many more. This should be a fun morning of easy birding! Please meet at the lower parking lot below the Nature Center near the pollinator garden. Birders of all levels are welcome. Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather\, wear comfortable shoes\, and bring along a water bottle. \nThis event is free and open to the public. This event is made possible by the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation.

SUMMARY:Free Concert featuring Tina & Her Pony
DESCRIPTION:FENCE is kicking off 2026 with our first free concert of the year! January’s concert will feature local musician Tina Collins of Tina & Her Pony. Join us for an afternoon of great music\, following the performance attendees are encouraged to stick around for light refreshments and conversation! \nWith deep roots in the Appalachian folk tradition and a voice that feels like it’s been carried on the mountain wind\, Tina & Her Pony brings a uniquely soulful presence to the stage. Known for lush harmonies\, country folk storytelling\, and songs that soothe as much as they stir\, Tina’s music carries a quiet magic that lingers long after the last note. \nFrom the hills of Asheville to the deserts of New Mexico\, she’s spent over a decade refining her sound by melding classic folk with touches of Americana\, and more recently\, dreamy pop and psychedelic soul. \nThis event is free and open to the public. Thank you to the Kirby Endowment at Polk County Community Foundation for making this event possible!
